Chapter Committee Report, October 2008
We are pleased to report to you that your efforts in 2008 have resulted in the recognition of two new chapters of the TRA and we are actively working with a third that may occur within the next quarter or the first quarter of 2009.
In addition, we have established a handbook which includes a checklist and form documents for the establishment of a new chapter and have standardized forms of by-laws for the use of prospective chapter organizations. We will continue to add to this handbook with sections on Police Awards, Speech Contests, The Teddy Bear Program and other support that may be provided by the TRA in the future.
The addition of the chapters this year brings our total of chapters and affiliated organizations to eleven.:
The two new chapters added in 2008 are:
Spectacle Club, Milwaukee,Wisconsin
The Spectacle Club of Milwaukee has been dedicated to the preservation of the memory of Theodore Roosevelt for many years. It is fitting and proper after these many years that this wonderful organization take the next logical step and become a formal chapter of the TRA. Under the leadership of Peter Kies and Mike Brennan, the organization adopted bylaws and was approved for membership in the first quarter of 2008.
Chicago Bull Moose Chapter, Chicago, Illinois
With the dedicated leadership of Joe Wetzel and Jim Pehta, the Chicago Bull Moose Chapter was approved in September of 2008. The chapter has already expressed its interest in sponsoring the 2012 annual meeting in recognition of the importance of Chicago in TR's political career and the centennial of the campaign of 1912, which changed the history of the country.
